MEXICO. Carlos & Johanna, Late Series. Real, ND (ca. 154?-1552 or 1553). Assayer L (Mo-L/O). NGC AU-53.
cf.Cal-type-104#146b; cf.Nesmith-88e; KM-9. Unlisted for exact type. Nesmith lists several L over O assayer overpunches, but none with column top type D1 like the piece presented here. Overpunch is quite clear and easily visible. Nice round flan with nearly full legends on both sides. For those collectors deeply involved with collecting die varieties from this series of coinage, the piece offered is a must-have coin. That it is nearly all white and straight-graded ALMOST UNCIRCULATED-53, makes the coin an irresistibly tempting lot that should draw considerable attention at auction. NGC AU-53.
