MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1750-MF. Ferdinand VI (1746-59). NGC AU Details--Removed from Jewelry.
Fr-17; Cal-type-13#38; KM-150. An elusive type to begin with, but also the best date in the series according to Calicó. A bit of roughness on a few of the denticles and minor smoothing of the reeds from previous mount do little to detract from the overall impressive look of the coin. The high relief qualities of the portrait are all well preserved with just a touch of wear on the highest points and a very clean cheek and forehead. The reverse exhibits the same characteristics with crisp well defined devices and evidence of original surface in the legends. All told, a surprisingly attractive and desirable example of this RARE date and type combination that is sure to be a welcome addition to the collection it enters.
