MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1775-FM. Charles III (1759-88). NGC AU-55.
Fr-35; Cal-type-59#478; KM-130.2. The only problem-free coin seen at NGC with none submitted at PCGS. A similar piece in AU-Details BENT sold for $763 recently which suggests the coin offered here is worth far more. But the real story with this coin would have to be the tone; a vibrant transparent deep red that does nothing to obscure the wonderful proof-like surfaces in the fields, but adds a remarkable visual treat. A coin that might conceivably have circulated during the American Revolution, and in an incomparable state of preservation. NGC AU-55.
