MEXICO. Empire of Iturbide. 1/2 Real, 1823-JM. NGC MS-66.
KM-301. Tied with one other piece for finest graded at NGC, with none submitted at PCGS so far. Iturbide's portrait is not one that reveals a great deal of detail, even on the larger 8 Reals. So it is a real treat to encounter a diminutive 1/2 Real with such amazing detail in the portrait, with all of the hair structure fully defined and expressive facial features present. The reverse is no less compelling, with the eagle appearing as if ready for flight. If you are a collector of Iturbide coinage and only the best will do, then this is the coin for you! NGC MS-66.
