PERU. 8 Reales, 1824-CUZCO T. Ferdinand VII (1808-33). NGC AU-58.
KM-117.2; FC-1a; El-95. Housed in an old six-digit NGC holder. Only example at this grade, with a single coin finer (62) at NGC and PCGS. Last year the royal portrait was to appear on any Peruvian coinage, and significant as such. Nearly undetectable signs of wear, with a bit of softness to the strike through the upper portions of the portrait. Reverse columns and ribbons look essentially as they did when the coin was struck in the mountains of Peru some three years after independence had been achieved. Generous amounts of thick tone throw-off a panoply of color with smoky hues of nearly every color of the rainbow present. An absolutely sensational example of this seldom encountered coin, certain to become the centerpiece of any collection from this era of Peruvian history. NGC AU-58.
Ex: Whittier Collection.
Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
