35.46 mm; 18.6 gms. Basso-150. Type I with plain edge. By Clemente Zamora. Japanese soldier in combat gear facing away at center gazing at the island of Corregidor in distance with commemorative legend above; Reverse: Two palm tress with fronds at top, four stars at center and filling the fields is a poem which Basso credits General Homma with writing. Struck with dies SA(3) from the Czahor survey. Plain edge with a spot of solder at twelve o'clock where a loop was at one time attached and has since been removed or broken off. Medium slate toning throughout giving a nice balanced appearance. Some contact marks in fields, only visible under magnification, light handling wear on high points. Some PVC residue noted for accuracy. EXTREMELY FINE.
