PHILIPPINES. Japanese Occupation. Homma Medals in Bronze, 1942. VERY FINE to EXTREMELY FINE.
cf.Basso-150. 3 pieces in lot. While Basso mentions that Zamora had struck two of these medals in bronze as trial strikes these three appear to be recasts/restrikes based on the rougher surfaces, mainly observable on the reverses. Two pieces have loops at twelve o'clock and of particular note one has the letters "CVP" stamped into the left field alluding to the Chinese guerrilla forces who resisted the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. Like the silver example of the above lot this one bears a loop of different style than other Homma medals but is similar to the silver version and may have been made shortly after the war from a genuine medal as a memento for members of the CVP. This piece has a large planchet crack in the vicinity of the letters, probably occurring when they were applied. An interesting little assortment of off metal pieces which are most likely very near in age to the genuine medals. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. VERY FINE to EXTREMELY FINE.

From the Ray Czahor Collection.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
