SCOTLAND. Rider, ND (ca. 1475-83). James III (1460-88). NGC VF-30.
S-5256; Coincraft-SJ3RD-005. Type 1. RARE. Ascending the thrown at age 9 in Keslo, a flurry of new denominations were introduced under his rule. James III managed to alienate much of the nobility before eventually being murdered by Scottish nobles lead by James III's own 15-year old son at the Battle of Sauchiebrun. The coin offered here is in remarkable condition, with fully original surfaces and undamaged rims. Sharp clear legends and fully detailed devices along with a rich subdued golden luster, a piece that will add instant prestige to any collection of medieval Scottish coinage. NGC VF-30.

Estimate: $5000.00- $7000.00
