112.69 mm; 525.80 gms. CGIEMP-Vol 2, pg. 153 F; Collignon-1288. By Antoine Bovy. Laureate head of Louis Philippe I right with title around; Reverse: Draped allegorical figure of railways seated facing on central plinth with figures of Mercury and Mars leaping outward to either side, railways in background radiating outward in four cardinal directions. Legend above and two line inscription in exergue below. An impressive massive sized medal in an excellent state of preservation. The obverse does display evidence of light cleaning done some time ago which left only the faintest of hairlines and is only apparent due to its lighter copper color when compared with the reverse. Clear and unmarred fields throughout with the only signs of contact being a few small shallow scrapes on the edge at 6 o'clock. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
