FRANCE. Courbevoie City Council Badge, ND (ca. Early 20th Century). CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
68.28 mm; 31.80 gms. Wreathed head of Liberty right in center of medallion on white enamel field, blue enamel band around citing the governing entity the badge is for, all atop wreath of oak and laurel with fasces and double axes behind, at top a small plaque inscribed "R F"; Reverse: Long tunic or pocket slide tab stamped with the word "BEAU", the backing to the central medallion bears the four line inscription "CHOBILLON/ FABant/ A. PARIS/ R. CROIX DES PETIT CHAMPS". The remainder of the reverse is blank, without maker or privy marks. Made for the city council of Courbevoie, a municipal commune about two kilometers from Paris. Seemingly made of brass or possibly a low grade silver alloy. Nicely toned with age with the more protected areas displaying some cobalt hues, enamels of medallion complete and without chips. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
