GERMANY. Scarcity of Living Space Bronze Medal, 1921. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
59.27 mm; 66.08 gms. Kienast-280. By Karl Goetz. A housing inspector haranguing a working class family as he checks that they are in compliance with their state allotted amount of living space stating, "What, still another living room"? while gesturing to their restroom; Reverse: Interior scene of family sleeping in triple bunk beds with toddlers in baskets and dresser drawers while young son urinates into chamber pot. Without signature on edge which is usually indicative of original Goetz products and may suggest this is a nearly contemporary recast. Nevertheless the dark chocolate patina and nice toning would give evidence to a more advanced age to the piece. Without any detracting contact marks and only minimal slide friction to the high points to indicate handling. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
Estimate: $150.00- $200.00
