GREAT BRITAIN. Anti-Slavery Convention Medal, 1840. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
51.4 mm; 42 gms. BHM-1977; Eimer-1342. Struck in white metal. By J. Davis (obv. after B.R. Haydon). Bust three-quarters right of Thomas Clarkson, British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society President; Reverse: Classic image of shackled male slave kneeling with folded hands raised, "AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER" below, double legend around. Bright silvery finish with a minimum of ticks and abrasions to the soft White Metal surfaces. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.

From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
