44.80 gms; 25.87 gms. Struck in copper. "M.D. III PIVS III PONT MAX" Bust of Pope Pius III facing right; Reverse: "GLORIA SENENSI D G PICCOLOMINI" Crossed keys and papal hat over personal arms. A later striking. Pius III was pope for only 27 days having one of the most perfunctory of pontificates in history. EXTREMELY FINE.
From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
