31.25 mm; 12.12 gms. Linc-697. Bronze. "GREGORIVS XIII PONT MAX AN I" Bust of Pope left; Reverse: "VGONOTTORVM STRAGES" Armed figure of Religion advancing on the Hugenots. A later restrike. Hints of verdigris present but overall a pleasing orange-brown. EXTREMELY FINE.
From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
