ITALY. Papal States. New Seminary of St. John Lateran Silver Medal, Year 11 (1913). CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
43.83 mm; 33.62 gms. Bart-914; de Luca-pg. 42/3. By Francesco Bianchi. Bust of Pope Pius X right; Reverse: View of the new seminary building beside the Basilica of St. John Lateran. An impressive medal with an extremely deep strike and high relief, especially evident on the reverse. Lightly cleaned some time ago as there are some wispy hairlines in the fields but the surfaces have toned exhibiting a beautiful spectrum of colors from deep cobalt and violets to vibrant sea foam green. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
