ITALY. Venice. Scudo (140 Soldi), ND (ca. 1698-99). Silvestro Valier (1694-1700). NGC VF-35.
Dav-4283; KM-431. Struck under the 109th Doge, Silvestro Valier. He had been elected by the citizens of Venice primarily based on his lack of ambition after the previous Doge had dragged Venice into a costly war with the Ottoman Empire. A relatively short reign, but with a numismatic record that includes the current coin offered. A very endearing piece with even color, nice rims, and well defined devices. Do not miss out on acquiring this heavy coin with much associated history. NGC VF-35.
Estimate: $100.00- $150.00
