JAPAN. Wedding of Crown Prince Yoshohito Medal, Year 33 (1900). MINT STATE.
54.6 mm; 72.8 gms. Struck in bronze. Two fans superimposed on floral arrangement, the whole within an ornamental border; Reverse: Five vertical lines of inscription within recessed tablet. Hallmark of the Imperial Mint at Osaka on edge. Yoshohito (1879-1928, Emperor from 1912), was later to become the Taisho Emperor. Appealing reddish-brown patina with proof-like surfaces. MINT STATE.
From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
