JAPAN. Wedding of Crown Prince Hirohito Plaque, Year 13 (1924). EXTREMELY FINE.
77.1 x 61.7 mm; 131.7 gms, including feet. Struck in bronze. RARE. Circular floral wreaths frame portraits of Hirohito and his bride Nagako (The future Empress Kojun). Japanese legend below. Reverse: Two sturdy trees intertwined. Hallmark of the Imperial Mint at Osaka on bottom edge. Version with removable decorative "feet" that allow it to be displayed standing upright. Medium olive-brown patina with some scattered stains - more noticeably on the reverse. EXTREMELY FINE.

From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
