VanLoon V P437 II. Fire burning on pedestal inscribed "FORTUNAE / REDUCI / EX VOTO" with date MDCLXXXIX JUN on base. Legend "MENS PIA MENS SUMMO VICTIMA GRATA DEA". Reverse; Two ships at sea, one caught on a gale and foundering the other sailing under clear skies. Legend "ASPERA NOS TENVERE DIV NUNC ASTRA SERENANT". Lightly polished, but much remaining pearly gray patina within the legends. Typical light contact marks in the fields. VERY FINE.
