ROMANIA. Order of the Star, First Class Star, ND (Instituted 1877). EXTREMELY FINE.
Vernon-105; cf.Werlich-1069. Consists of a 58.5 mm (across adjacent points) faceted square silver plaque with gold rimmed blue enamel crosslet cross with a superimposed central medallion bearing the cypher of King Carol I and the motto "IN FIDE SALUS". This is the type II badge, first issued in 1932, with stylized eagles replacing the rays between the arms of the cross as found on earlier pieces. The reverse bears a central disc with a maker's medallion lettered "JOSEPH RESCH / FILS / BUCHAREST". The single, hinged tunic pin is marked with a convex triangle enclosing a crown and assay office mark (C), the serial number 108-39, ARG, and the maker's stamp IR. The red and green enamels are fine and complete, with nearly all the blue enamel of the left arm of the cross missing. Scarce, ornate, and highly sought after, the medal is a great opportunity to add a seldom offered type. EXTREMELY FINE.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
