MIXED LOTS. East Asian Medals, ca. Early 20th Century. VERY FINE-UNCIRCULATED.
7 pieces in lot. Comprised mainly of small Japanese medalettes in silver and copper-nickel one of which features Prince Kanin Kotohito which is pierced with a small loop attached and a copper-nickel piece featuring crossed naval jacks of Great Britain and Japan and showing ships of each nation side by side. Also included is an Eighth Class Order of the Rising Sun badge (Barac-41),a Japanese naval merit badge with a red enamel star seemingly in its plush wood case of issue, a 54.74 mm bronze medal of Japanese origin and a small base metal badge showing the flags of the Chinese Kuomintang with a hollow area on the reverse acting as a sort of cameo. All are problem free if showing heavy circulation on a few pieces. An interesting assortment worth closer inspection. Retail value of more than $600. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. VERY FINE-UNCIRCULATED.

From the Collections of The Strong, Rochester, New York; sold to benefit the museum's collections fund; originally collected by John Charles Woodbury (1859-1937).
