Alle Welt: French West Africa: 1000 Francs 1924 "DAKAR", CONTEMPORARY FORGERY note of P. 15B with "FALSO" perforation at lower border. This is a very interesting item of french colonial banknote history and it would be interesting to know which detailed story it has to tell. As far as one can determine the note is printed on paper which resembles the real banknote paper of that time but is more strong and flat. The print on the note seems nearly perfect until one holds an original note next to it. One can see slight differences in detail. This forgery was also produced with watermark, what makes it even more interesting. But also by comparing the quality of the watermark to the one of real notes it is clearly visible that this one is a forgery. Last but not least the printing of serial number is misplaced. Furthermore interesting is that the note is perforated "FALSO" as this was normally used in South America for marking forgerys. French Colonial Banks would have marked it "FAUX". So it seems possible that this forgery came from South America or was found there. A very interesting piece of banknote history and surely a great addition for a specialized collection. Condition: VF+.
