Alle Welt: Netherlands: Batavian Republic 1795. The Netherlands were Liberated / Occupied by the Army of the French Republic. French soldiers were paid in Assignats and Dutch were forced to accept them. The Dutch issued socalled Recepisse to be used instead and so they could restrict the number. Recepisses were issued by the city government where a French army was located. The City of Gouda issued in April 1795 Recepisse of 22 1/2 Stuivers equal to 50 French Sous.
