THRACE, Byzantion. Circa mid 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34mm, 16.73 g 11), Lysimachos type. Diademed head of Alexander III to right, wearing horn of Ammon behind his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left on throne, holding Nike in her outstretched right hand and spear in her left; below throne, ΒΥ and ornamental trident; to left, monogram. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 1139 var. (different monogram). Lightly toned and struck on a broad flan. Good very fine.
