THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd to mid 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 22mm, 6.29 g 12), Sosipatros and Gorgopas magistrates. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear held in her right hand, shield on her left arm; [Σ]ΩΣI-ΠATPOΣ above spear, NI in inner left field, ΓOPΓΩΠΑΣ in exergue. BCD Thessaly 862.3. McClean 4873-5. Toned and with a fine style Zeus for the issue. Sharp and clear. Reverse slightly double struck, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
