SICILY, Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Dekadrachm (Gold, 14mm, 4.24 g 6), struck circa 317-310. Laureate head of Apollo to left. Rev. ΣYPAKΣIΩN Charioteer, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right, driving biga galloping to right; below, triskeles running to left. Dewing 934. Jameson 858. SNG ANS 552. SNG Lockett 1000. A nice example with a very elegant head of Apollo. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, very fine.
