BRITISH COINS, Victoria, Bronze Halfpenny, obverse only apparent of bronze issue (c.1874), seemingly set within a Victorian rivet scissel, standard size as used in metal work most likely in ship building, the halfpenny diameter coin fits neatly within the standard one inch rivet width, the coin most likely put on the head of the standard one inch screw punch or rivet steam tool, before being punched through a metal sheet to make an unusual souvenir of the ship yard, 38.02g, 29mm diameter, 8.8mm thick (cf Fr obverse 9; S 3956). File marks around border and legend, the rivet side with stress cracks, good fine and very unusual.
Estimate: £80-100
