COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, BRITISH MEDALS, Ireland, The Dublin International Exhibition, 1865, Copper Prize Medal, by Alexandre George Geefs (1829-1866), winged female figure with cornucopiae, flies over sea towards emblems of Arts and Industry before a temple, rev naming within wreath (Section VI – Sketchley & Co), 74mm (Eimer 1577); White Metal Medal of William Dargan, sponsor of the exhibition, 41mm. Both very fine, first with edge knock to top of reverse. (2)
The medal [Catalogue no.117E – Machinery in Motion] awarded to Sketchley & Co, Great George St, Weymouth, for their "Patent Universal Joiner". William Dargan (1799-1867), Irish engineer who built Ireland's first railway in 1833.
