Edward IV (first reign 1461-70), Light coinage, 1464-70, Ryal, 7.07g, Coventry, m.m. -/sun, king crowned, standing facing in ship holding sword and shield, rose on hull, flag on which letter e at stern, trefoil stops, c in waves, rev. rose on radiant sun over floriate cross, crowned leopards in angles, trefoil and double trefoil stops, large fleurs in spandrels (Blunt & Whitton type VI; N.1551; S.1955), struck from a rusty reverse die, dig by shield and with flan split at 10/11 o'clock, solder? at 6/7 o'clock, nevertheless, a most presentable piece with the C for Coventry clearly struck, full and evenly toned, good very fine, one of the rarest provincial ryals.
