ITALY. Octavian and Divus Julius Caesar. Æ Medal (48mm, 87.80 g, 6h). By an uncertain artist, 16th century. CAESAR I DIV F S P Q R IMP, laureate head of Octavian right / DIVOS IVLIVS PATER, laureate head of Divus Julius Caesar left; lituus behind. VF, brown surfaces, flan cracks. Interesting.

A large and impressive bronze that is perhaps unpublished. Similarly-sized imitations of Tiberius in the Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin (CNR IX, 331) and Caligula (Kunst und Münzen FPL 61, October 1987, no. 28) may be from the same workshop.
