Celtic, Trinovantes and Catuvellauni, uninscribed coinage, (c.60-20 BC), silver Unit 1.07g, 'Whaddon Bird' type, bust left with coiled hair, form of headgear above? animal, ring-pellets, and wing motifs before rev. horse right, bird above, pelletal sun below, motif before (ABC 2481; VA 1546-1; S.50), some evidence of die breakage to obverse, possibly interspersed with corrosion, the general metal quality on reverse, however, very high, this side well struck with lustrous fields, light toning, nearly extremely fine/extremely fine, extremely rare, one of the finest known.
