66.45 x 15.65 mm; 29.47 gms. This white jade piece was affixed to the top of a Qing Official's ceremonial hat, which held a peacock's feather. Red string is still attached to the jade piece. This tube is for attaching the Hua Ling/Yu Ling, (Peacock Feathers) which symbolize an official rank. Much like a modern military uniform there are rules and regulations for wearing this item, and usually only on official business. These items could be found in multiple materials, including jade, tourmaline, amber, crystal, glass, porcelain and copper. Typically the white jade was reserved for high ranking military officials. No marks or blemishes, housed in a protective case. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
