FRENCH COCHIN CHINA. Pattern Sapeque, 1870. PCGS SP-65 BN Secure Holder.
KM-unlisted; Gad-unlisted; Lec-1. VERY RARE. Pattern by D. Uhlhorn. According to LeCompte this prototype was created in preparation for an exposition. Reportedly only five examples are known. Numerically tied with one other example for finest certified at either PCGS or NGC at the Specimen-65 level, though the other example is designated Red-Brown. A pleasing and even mahogany hue greatly enriches the visual detail of this not-often seen issue. Surely destined to become a highlight amongst a collection of French colonial coinage. PCGS SP-65 BN Secure Holder.

Estimate: $9000.00- $12000.00
