CAMBODIA. Partial Pattern Set Struck in White Metal, CS 1208 (1847). NGC PROOF-63.
KM-Pn2(3 Tical) and 37(basic type for the Tical); Fonrobert-2159 & 2161. VERY RARE. This partial pattern set (missing the 1/4 Tical pattern) comes with the original eggplant shape (and hue) display case, which features a handwritten note attached to the interior explaining the set. The note details the King of Cambodia hired W.P. Hammond of London, England to provide mint equipment to Cambodia. Each piece features a Hamza bird facing left, legend around; Reverse: elaborate temple facade. During the first half of the 19th century Cambodia was constantly under assault from both Vietnam to the east and Siam to the west when in 1845 they decided to share control over that country. By 1847 Siam and Vietnam both financially drained withdrew from Cambodia and in 1848 King Ang Duong was coronated at Udong with a traditional Cambodian ceremony. These issues are lustrous and in a great state of preservation. Sure to find a place of honor in the new collection it resides in. NGC PROOF-63.

Estimate: $35000.00- $45000.00
