HONG KONG. 20 Cents, 1868. NGC PROOF-62.
KM-7; Pridmore-19A; Remick-Y5; C-28. Of the HIGHEST RARITY and one of only two known proof examples outside of museum collections, the other example being housed in a PCGS PROOF-64 holder. The coin offered here is a constituent part of a cased proof set that first appeared in September of 2007 at Spink Auction #7023 as lot #236, now being sold in individual lots. An impressive piece, much like the other coins from this terrific proof set, featuring a bold well defined strike as one would expect, and moderately heavy toning from its many years of storage in the case of issue. The deeper recesses are more significantly toned, producing a pleasing contrast to the lighter glistening high points. A few light marks confined primarily to the fields of the reverse set the pace for the assigned grade, with an overall look that is premium quality. An opportunity to acquire this proof coin not to be missed, and likely your only chance to add this great rarity to your collection at any time in the near future. NGC PROOF-62.
