Tibet. Qian Long Sho Year 57 (1792) AU50 NGC, Lhasa mint, KM-C67, L&M-Unlisted, Kann-Unlisted (mentioned on pg. 414). Lightly toned over nearly original surfaces, this very rare specimen is generally considered a pattern for the first official issues of the Lhasa mint released in 1793. It lacks any Chinese characters (corrected the following year) but is dated for the 57th year of the reign of Qian Long. We have located only one other example of this type (C-67.1 rather than C-67) sold by Stack's-Bowers in Hong Kong in August of 2011 for $27,500 hammer (Sale 162, Lot 70931).From the Gary L.
