Tibet. Theocracy gold 20 Srang BE15-55/4 (1921) MS63 NGC, Ser-Khang mint, KM-Y22, Fr-1. Without dot in center of central circle, although there appears to be the shadow of a dot as if there had been a dot in the die and it was removed. Only a small handful of coins were struck with this date, as the intrinsic value of the coins was more than the face value at the time of striking, therefore striking was suspended. Exceedingly rare. We can trace only two other pieces of this date: (1) Baldwin's, Ma Tak Wo, Ronald J. Gillio, September 5, Hong Kong, Lot 200; and Spink, Nicholas Rhodes Collection, August 21, 2013, Hong Kong, Lot 476, where it realized $280,000 HK (approximately $35000 U.S.).From the Gary L. Damkoehler Collection of Tibetan Coins
Estimate: 20000-25000 USD
