French Colony Specimen Mule 20 Cents ND (1885-97) SP63 PCGS, Paris mint, KM-E9, Lec-199. This Double Reverse experimental nickel alloy pattern of the silver 20 Cent weighs approximately 7.9 grams instead of the 5.4 grams inscribed on the reverses. The first auction appearance for this nickel pattern seems to be the A. Salles auction of 1929 in Paris, where 2 specimens were offered. Only 7 specimens including this one have been graded by the grading services and 2 to 3 more are known to exist. This is thus an extremely rare, underestimated pattern. A similar SP63 PCGS specimen sold for 3600 Euros in 2011.Ex. BIM Collection
