Sir William Mitchell Acworth, KCSI (1850-1925), railway economist, barrister and politician; b. Rothley, Leics; educ. Uppingham School and Christ Church, Oxford; English tutor to the future Kaiser Wilhelm II and his brother, 1875-7; elected to the new London County Council as a councillor for Dulwich, 1889; called to the Bar 1890; author of Railways of England (1889) and Railways of Scotland (1890); lecturer on railway matters to the London School of Economics; served on numerous royal commissions related to railways, both in the UK and overseas
