China Board of Revenue 50 Taels Year 4 (1854) Pick A13b
The highest denomination of the Taels issue. Though this note represented an extraordinary amount of purchasing power at the time and was not expected to be commonly circulated, the amount of teller's marks on the back indicates that this example saw great use between banks and cash houses. A Chihli Province stamp also appears. A previous year 5 example of the same denomination with a Fine 12 grade realized $19,975 in 2014. This example in a better condition with an earlier date is expected to perform better. PMG Very Fine 20 Net, with repairs, tears, and annotations.
