Macau Banco Nacional Ultramarino 5 Patacas 1.1.1924 Pick 8pe Face and Back Printer's Essay
Quite possibly the most coveted design issued by the BNU, which handled banknote emission for all of Portugal's overseas possessions. This sum represented a large amount of money when it was issued in the early part of the 20th century, and as most of the money in Macau even at that time was comprised of silver dollars or notes denominated in silver dollars (mostly commercial bank notes from neighboring Hong Kong), Pataca notes only accounted for a fraction of circulating currency. This design is so coveted that some advanced collectors must make do with a similar note, but issued for Timor instead. Do not miss this example so exquisitely preserved, with all features as new as the day it was printed. Both the face and back essay notes carry a high grade of PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 Net, both with previous mounting.
