MEXICO, Primera República. 1823-1863. Pattern CU 8 Reales (37mm, 12h). Naming San Luis de Potosí mint, but struck at the London mint. Dated 1829 PI JS. Eagle standing facing on cactus, wings spread, grasping snake in beak and right talon; all atop laurel and oak wreath / Liberty cap; glory of rays in background. Cf.
