The legends form a poetic couplet, translated by Whitehead as "In Ardibihisht struck this coin in Lahore on gold (sic) / King of kings of the age, Shah Jahangir, son of Shah Akbar". Although zar means "gold", it is frequently used poetically to designate "precious metal", i.e., gold and silver in general.
