WESTERN HAN: Han Wudi, 140-87 BC, 8 liang (3000 cash) (125g), 53mm, stylized dragon design, bai jin lung "white metal dragon" / pseudo-Greek legend, with two chops, shao fu (emperor's private treasury), uneven pationation, but lovely example for type! VF, RRR. This is part of the Bai Jin San Pin series of coins or tokens issued by Han Wudi. The "bai jin" refers to the metal (lead), "san pin" refers to the fact that it was a series of three coins with different denominations: Dragon, Horse and Turtle, the last being the most rare. There are about 380 known specimens of the dragon type including 274 pieces located at the Ling Tai County Museum, Gansu Province, China. Photo size reduced.
