ANCIENT COINS, KINGS OF PARTHIA, Parthian Kingdom. Mithradates I (164-132 BC). Silver Drachm, 3.98g, Ekbatana, c.148-138/7 BC. Diademed and bearded bust of Mithradates I right. Rev. Archer seated right on omphalos, holding bow, monogram to outer left (cf Sellwood 12.1 (lacking monogram); Shore -; Sunrise 258, this coin). Wonderful Hellenistic portrait, delicately toned, extremely fine. Very rare.
This monogram is present on Sellwood 12.2 Drachms, so this must be a transitional issue between 12.1 and 12.2.
