CAESAR AVGVSTVS, laureate head left / DIVVS IVLIVS, eight-rayed comet with tail upwards. RIC 38b; RSC 97; BMC 326. Toned aVF, small edge chips. A comet appeared in the sky shortly after the assassination of Julius Caesar. There were many who thought the comet represented the soul of Caesar, and that the appearance in the sky inaugurated a new era.
