Philip V 8 Reales 1738/6 AU-Salvaged, Mexico City mint, KM103. Well detailed with essentially no wear and dull surfaces typical of a sea-salvaged piece but generally choice and attractive. Recovered from the Reijgersdaal, sunk in 1747 off South Africa. A rare and clear overdate unconfirmed by Gilboy and very desirable in this quite handsome preservation. Ex. Sedwick Auctions (10/2013, lot 543 for $2,200) where it was listed as part of the Reijgersdaal Research Collection.
Estimate: 1200-1500 USD
