A Potosi Charles III cob 8 Reales (date effaced by the main punch of the countermark) with the Type V 1846 double countermark. Host coin Very Fine but pierced (as often encountered in this issue), countermark Extremely Fine and attractive. A well detailed and finely pedigreed example of this rare countermarked type, vastly desirable despite the noted defect. Ex.
