Henry VIII (Edward VI) gold 1/2 Sovereign (1547-51) AU50 NGC, Southwark mint, 'E' mm, S-2394. King seated on throne / Crowned shield supported by lion at left and griffin at right; 'E' mintmark below. A rare type, struck during the reign of Edward VI, but issued in the name of Henry VIII. The strike is well-placed on the flan, but several areas of weakness are evident. Little wear and few marks define the grade. Seldom seen finer. From the RichLyn Collection
