James II silver "Monmouth and Argyle Dukes Beheaded" Medal ND (1685) MS62 NGC, Eimer-281, MI-615/27. 61mm/74.34g. By R. Arondeaux. Obv. James' bust on crossed scepters over pedestal, crowned coat of arms resting against. Rev. Justice on alter trampling serpent; decapitated dukes surround. Glass-like iridescent tone envelopes the obverse with graphite colored reverse tone. Choice condition for the issue with a set of ticks in the right obverse field being the only flaws worthy of mention. Overall, a visually engrossing medal; certainly a rarity this fine.
